| Susan
Schelle was born Hamilton Ontario, 1947 and currently lives and works in
Toronto. She is an Assistant Professor, Tenure stream in the Visual
Studies Department, University of Toronto. Working in sculpture and photography
Schelle is interested in the "manipulation of the common – images that deal
with the phenomenon of the physical world and the customs of a particular
time and place" . She has completed a number of public art commissions, notably
"Salmon Run" – a fountain project at Toronto’s Sky Dome. Her work resides
in the collections of Air Canada, The Art Gallery of Ontario, Art Gallery
of Hamilton, Oakville Galleries, and the Canada Council Art Bank. In addition
to her own work, Schelle has been collaborating with Mark Gomes on Public
Commissions for over 13 years. They have completed many projects in Canada
and have received awards for their integrated and collaborative approach,
including the Toronto Architecture and Urban Design Award. View
