Alain Paiement was born in Montreal in 1960 and received his MA
from the University of Quebec at Montreal in 1987. He constructs photographs
that depict multiple spaces simultaneously - conventional building-scapes
that are deconstructed and sewn back together again into a seamless quilt.
His work is in the collections of the Musee National des Beaux-Arts du Quebec,
Musee d’art Contemporain de Montreal, and the Canadian Museum of Contemporary
Photography. Paiement has exhibited at the Oakville Galleries, Musee
National des Beaux-Arts Quebec, ARCO Madrid, and the Centre Culturel Canadien
Paris, France.
In 2004 he was the recipient of a Gold Medal, from Homes and Gardens, Canadian National Magazine awards foundation.
